Penca is the word for a hanging bunch, the way bananas are sold whole at Brazilian markets: strung, weighted, carried home by the stem.
Each banana here is carved from wood by hand, then painted and knotted onto a braided cord with wooden beads marking its length. No two carvings match exactly. The blade leaves its own trace in every curve.
